Steering Mode Selector Types NT850 STMS, NT851 STMS, NT851 STMS/2 & NT852 STMS.

The NT850 Steering Mode Selector Switch (STMS) provides simple switch selection of Non Follow Up (NFU) Full Follow Up (FU) and AUTO (Autopilot) steering control with provision for a further 2 x auxiliary inputs (Track System, DP etc.) each confirmed by LED indication as appropriate .

As a Dual Independent Rudder System may involve two Steering Amplifiers (one for each system), the STMS control functions accept dual power supplies routed from the appropriate solenoid junction boxes via the NT850 Steering Amp., to maintain galvanic isolation thoughout.

In addition to mode display confirmation via the STMS Control Panel LEDs, Steering Override status indications and alarms are also activated on the STMS when the Override Control has been operated.

Override Control Operation results in an audible alarm which can be stopped via the “STOP ALARM” key although the “OVERRIDE ACTIVE” LED will continue to be illuminated until the “STOP OVERRIDE” key is operated to end the override condition.

The NT850 STMS Steering Mode Selector is not suitable for external location and should always be mounted in an enclosed wheelhouse or bridge location in close proximity to the conning position if not an integral part of a Navitron Steering Control Panel.

The NT851 Steering Mode Selector Switch (STMS) combines Rudder (dual rudder system) or Pump selection (single rudder/dual pumps) with Steering Mode selection facilities and avoids the use of separate modules (ie NT850 STMS and NT850/851 STSS) always provided that Override Switch type NT850 OVSW is not required (NT850 OVSW must be acompanied by NT850 STMS).

In addition to simple switch selection of Non Follow Up (NFU) Full Follow Up (FU) and AUTO (Autopilot) steering control plus provision for a further 2 x auxiliary inputs (Track System, DP etc.) the NT851 STMS provides Pump or Rudder System selection as follows:-
(i) Rudder (system) No. 1 only in Dual Rudder System.
(ii) Rudder (system) No. 2 only in Dual Rudder System.
(iii) Both rudders (system No. 1 & No. 2) in Dual Rudder System.
(iv) As above but related to Pumps (Pump No.1, No. 2 or both) in Single Rudder System.

As a Dual Independent Rudder System may involve two Steering Amplifiers (one for each system), the STMS control functions accept dual power supplies routed from the appropriate solenoid junction boxes via the NT850 Steering Amp., to maintain galvanic isolation thoughout.

It should be noted that the NT851 STMS is not suitable for use with the Override Switch type NT850 OVSW which requires the NT850 STMS in system.

The NT851 STMS Steering Mode Selector is not suitable for external location and should always be mounted in an enclosed wheelhouse or bridge location in close proximity to the conning position if not an integral part of a Navitron Steering Control Panel.

The NT851 Steering Mode Selector Switch (STMS/2) provides simple switch selection of Non Follow Up (NFU), Full Follow Up (FU) and AUTO (Autopilot) steering control. Also provided is switch selection of active pump in a single rudder dual pump system (pump 1 or pump 2).

The NT851 STMS/2 control functions accept dual power supplies routed from the appropriate solenoid Junction Boxes. Galvanic isolation (electrical separation) of the dual power supplies is maintained throughout.

Steering failure alarm indicators are also provided on the NT851 STMS/2 for rudder feedback failure, steering system failure, FU power failure or NFU power failure.

The NT851 STMS/2 Steering Mode Selector is not suitable for external location and should be mounted in an enclosed wheelhouse in close proximity to the conning position if not an integral component of the Main Steering console.

The NT852 Steering Mode Selector Switch (STMS) provides simple switch selection of Non Follow Up (NFU) Full Follow Up (FU) and AUTO (Autopilot) steering control with provision for an additional - auxiliary - input (Track System, DP etc.). LED indicators are provided to show actual mode selected..

The STMS control functions accept dual power supplies routed from the appropriate solenoid Junction Boxes via the NT850 STA. Galvanic isolation (electrical separation) of the dual power supplies is maintained throughout.

The unit also features a comprehensive alarm panel providing audible and visual alarms for all critical steering system parameters.
