Non Follow Up Jog Lever Types NT850 & NT851 NFU

The NT850 Non Follow Up Lever Unit is immediately activated (ready) when the Steering Mode Selector Switch is set to “NFU”. The “ACTIVE” condition is confirmed by the status LED on the NFU Lever Unit Control Panel.

Operation of the sprung to centre NFU Lever to Port or Stbd results in rudder application in the appropriate direction. When the lever is released back to centre, rudder application will stop and the rudder will be stationary at whatever angle existed at the instant of NFU Lever release.
Further movements of the NFU Lever will produce corresponding rudder movements and prolonged NFU deflection will move the rudder hard over.
Typically, the NFU electrical connections are routed as directly as possible to the Rudder System (bypassing the Steering Amplifier) via Junction Box(es) located in the Steering Room/Tiller Flat.
Where more than one NFU Lever Unit is required, these can be installed in parallel and/or on a modified software basis which uses the “Auxiliary” input(s) of the Steering Amplifier via the Steering Mode (“AUX1” or "2" ) Selector Switch.
The SYNC key facility disengages one rudder on Dual Rudder Systems and allows the operator to "match" the position of the operational rudder to correspond with the other.
The NT850 NFU can be included in the standard Navitron Steering Console or desk control panel and/or remotely in wheelhouse/protected bridge wing locations.

The NT851 Non Follow Up Lever Unit is immediately activated (ready) when the Steering Mode Selector Switch is set to “NFU”. The “ACTIVE” condition is confirmed by the status LED on the NFU Lever Unit Control Panel.

Operation of the sprung to centre NFU Lever to Port or Stbd results in rudder application in the appropriate direction in exactly the same way as the NT850 NFU version above but does not include the SYNC key facility and is more likely to be used in Single Rudder Systems or Dual Rudder Systems where both rudders are permanently coupled (ie not capable of independent operation).
Again, the NFU electrical connections are routed as directly as possible to the rudder system (bypassing the Steering Amplifier) via Junction Box(es) located in the Steering Room/Tiller Flat.
Where more than one NFU Lever Unit is required, these can be installed in parallel and/or on a modified software basis which uses the “Auxiliary” input(s) of the Steering Amplifier via the Steering Mode (“AUX1” or "2" ) Selector Switch.
